Welcome
I’m Emmy S. Chang, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through meaningful healing and lasting transformation. Since 2005, I have worked with a wide range of clients—from children and teens to adults, couples, and multi-generational families—helping people navigate emotional struggles, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the deeper search for clarity, stability, and purpose.
My style is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and deeply attuned to both emotional and relational needs. I believe therapy is not only about reducing symptoms—it is also about rebuilding trust in yourself, strengthening your relationships, and creating a life that feels more grounded, connected, and authentic.
My Approach: Integrative, Mindfulness-Based, and Trauma-Informed
My therapeutic approach weaves together Western psychotherapy with Eastern contemplative traditions, integrating mindfulness, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed care. This allows therapy to be both practical and transformational—supporting clients in developing real tools for daily life while also healing at a deeper level.
Depending on your needs, I may incorporate evidence-based and relationship-centered approaches including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT for couples), Structural Family Systems & Family Therapy for families.
Somatic & Meditative Healing (Beyond Talk Therapy): Somatic and mindfulness-based work can help you: restore a sense of safety and stability in your nervous system, reconnect with your body’s signals and inner wisdom, reduce anxiety, panic, and emotional overwhelm, build resilience, self-trust, and emotional flexibility, cultivate greater wholeness, clarity, and self-compassion
I am certified in psychosomatic and trauma healing modalities, and I am passionate about supporting clients who feel drawn to deeper inner work—whether that includes emotional healing, conscious living, spiritual growth, or developing a more embodied and present relationship with life.
Special Focus: Bi-Cultural Couples & Intergenerational Family Dynamics:
Originally from Taiwan and now practicing in the United States, I bring a culturally sensitive lens to therapy and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I specialize in working with bi-cultural (Asian & American) couples and intergenerational family dynamics, including challenges such as: communication differences across cultures or family role, parent-adult children estrangement, parenting stress and family-of-origin patterns, acculturation stress, identity conflicts, and balancing independence with connection and responsibility
What We Work On Together
My work focuses on empowering clients to strengthen communication and relationships while also building emotional resilience and internal stability. Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety, navigating a life transition, repairing a relationship, or longing to feel more grounded and alive,
I offer a safe and supportive space to explore what truly matters to you. Professional Background My clinical experience includes private practice and community-based work across a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and trauma-focused agencies.
